The EU imposed higher tariffs on Chinese electric cars. In this regard, the spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry clarified China’s stand against it as follows:
The EU’s recent measure was a typical expression of protectionism and an act of political hue detrimental to the EU’s efforts to go green and the global efforts to cope with the climate change.
We strongly demand that the EU listen carefully to the objective and reasonable voices of various circles including the industrial circle and commercial association, and immediately mend their wrong ways. We also demand that the EU takes steps towards the direction of China and find a proper solution to prevent the aggravation of trade dispute.
The spokesperson concluded by stressing that China will also take resolute measures to protect the just rights and interests of Chinese businesses.
