In a recent statement, the spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced the country’s strong disapproval of a U.S. religious organization for its submitted report to the U.S. administration requesting it to designate India as a “Country of Particular Concern” under accusations that religious freedom in India is being violated.
Denouncing the report by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) that religious freedom in India is being systematically and outrageously violated, the spokesperson claimed that the USCIRF is a biased organization holding on to political aims of distorting the reality of India and intentionally smearing it.
The spokesperson continued that this stand of India against the USCIRF is widely known and denounced the above-mentioned report filled with evil intents, stressing that the report will only bring down the reliability of the USCIRF.
The spokesperson concluded by advising the USCIRF to give up on its attempt to work on a report with political intent and instead use its time more productively to solve human rights issues in the U.S.
Meanwhile India’s Minister of External Affairs mocked the biased and unilateral human rights stand of the U.S. at an event held in the U.S. He said that a democratic nation is entitled to comment on another democratic nation but it is wrong to say that these comments are a way to promote democracy globally. He added that they have every right to comment on others and so does he.
