An energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace of Korean style was wonderfully built at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, a large base of metallurgical industry.

As a result, another progress was made in developing the metallurgical industry in Korean way and a firm foundation laid to dynamically open up a broad avenue of the independent national economy.

The proud creation demonstrating the might of the self-supporting metallurgical industry again is a clear proof of the dignity and greatness of our state and people and a brilliant fruition of persistent efforts of the heroic Korean working class dedicated to the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The inaugural ceremony of the energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace was held at the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex on the 19th.

Present there were Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; Jon Hyon Chol, Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK; Pak Chang Ho, Chief Secretary of the North Hwanghae Provincial Committee of the WPK; Kim Son Il, Chairman of the North Hwanghae Provincial People's Committee; officials and employees of the complex, officials concerned and working people.

He, upon the authorization of the Central Committee of the WPK and the government of the DPRK, sent warm congratulations to the workers of the complex and all other builders, scientists and technicians who made a great contribution to the development of the metallurgical industry of the country, and said.

The energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace built at the complex is a proud creation of the working class who resolutely carried out the decisions adopted at the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee in the spirit of resolute implementation.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified concrete tasks and ways to develop the metallurgical industry in Korean way by further perfecting the iron- and steel-making techniques with domestic raw materials and fuel.

Our workers, scientists and technicians made the proud creation of self-reliance, supporting the decisions adopted at the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee with strenuous efforts and record results, keeping the immutable faith that the broad avenue for the development of metallurgical industry is only to complete the cokeless iron-making method of Korean style.

Minister An Kum Chol ardently called on all to fully demonstrate the heroic spirit of our generation, the greatest and strongest generation in the history of the DPRK, by turning out in the sacred patriotic struggle for the overall development of socialism full of confidence in victory and optimism.

After the inaugural ceremony, the participants looked round the newly-established Korean-style iron production processes.
