This year the State Academy of Sciences has made tangible research achievements conducive to strengthening the country’s economic infrastructure and readjusting and reinforcing industrial establishments.
Its scientists developed a new coal gasification technology based on locally available anthracite and lignite.
With the gasification based on anthracite and lignite, they shot down the existing theory that it is impossible to effectively gasify low-volatile anthracite with high ash content.
The new technology has opened up prospects for drastically reducing coal consumption in the production of nitrogen fertilizer and establishing an iron-making industry based on lignite, making it possible in turn to put chemical, metallurgical and other industries on a more independent footing.
The academy also made progress in developing new technologies for producing potassic compound fertilizer and various basic chemical products by comprehensively processing potassic feldspar abundant in the country.
It also further introduced the heavy oil-free lower part ignition technology with low oxygen consumption and much higher heat output into a large-scale thermal power plant and developed an efficient comprehensive characteristic quantity analysis system for an oxygen blast furnace, thus contributing to the production of power and pig iron.
Meanwhile, it developed a new technology for producing high-grade manganese concentrated ore by using low-grade wad as the main raw material and established a production process with success in trial production.
Recently, it has established a technology of producing steel from new raw materials, opening up prospects for solving the shortage of structural steel badly needed for regional construction, and achieved remarkable successes in the research into core basic technologies.
In addition, it successfully tackled sci-tech issues arising in modernizing various major units.
