Last year, the Electric Power IT Institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry made achievements in research projects for putting power management on an IT basis.
In order to enhance the safety of the power system, the institute introduced to major points of the system a digital transmission line protection device with higher reliability and a new system for the protection of the power system with improved troubleshooting.
Having updated the main software of the power geographic information system, the researchers worked on optimal methods to rearrange the transmission and distribution system by reconstructing transmission lines and setting up new sub-stations in a bid to reduce the loss of electricity in transmission.
They also developed a program to analyse power flow and stability in real time, and established a system of quantitatively evaluating the operation of power management instruments.
The institute established an online system for gathering regional statistics on norms of electricity consumption of all units and their implementation, laying a foundation for more rational supply of electricity to the industrial establishments.
Besides, it built an economic accounting system that helps monitor, analyse and predict the operation of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry, power stations and provincial power distribution stations.
