Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- It has been ten years since the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made public his famous work "Let's Boost the Fishing Sector and Effect a New Turn in the Development of Fisheries" on February 24, 2015.

With this significant day as an occasion, the DPRK people recall the great father's journey of devoted service for the people's wellbeing left on windy ports.

General Secretary Kim Jong Un unfolded a grand plan to bring about a decisive turn in the development of the country's fishing industry in the new era and has wisely guided the work for its realization.

His field guidance at the August 25 Fishery Station on May 27, 2013 marked a turning point in making a breach in the fishing industry to improve the living standards of citizens and servicepersons.

True to his on-site instructions, the August 25 Fishery Station caught more than 4 000 tons of fish in the second half of 2013 and twice as many as the previous year in 2016, thus making big fish hauls for the first time in scores of years. In December 2019, officials and fishermen in the fishing sector of the People's Army caught more than 140 000 tons of fish through a winter intensive fishing campaign.

The General Secretary paid deep attention to the work for rapidly developing the overall fishing sector and made ceaseless field guidance.

In the sweltering weather of 2018 alone, he gave field guidance at the Raksan Offshore Salmon Farm, the Sokmak Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm, the Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory, the newly-built Office for Stocking Lake Yonphung with Fishes and other units to kindle the flames of the fish farming revolution and indicate the direction for the development of fishery processing.

He unfolded a grand plan to make the people substantially get much benefit from the sea in a new era of the comprehensive national rejuvenation and energetically led the struggle to realize it.

Attending the inauguration ceremony of the Sinpho City Offshore Farm on December 28, 2024, he said that the most precious income we have gained is that the Sinpho people came to have a keen interest in the offshore farming which will renew the structure of our fishing industry and grasped the best method by dint of science. The creation of new experience in large-scale aquaculture in Sinpho City, which had been famous as a leading city in fishing, gives confidence that it is possible to restore and develop the fishing industry of the country with offshore farming as the main domain in the future, he noted.

He also attended the ground-breaking ceremony of the Ragwon County Offshore Farm and expressed his grand will to build the farm that will be more distinctive and wonderful than the Sinpho City Offshore Farm and a spectacular fishing village that no one has yet witnessed.
