Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi expressed China’s position on the China-U.S. relations at the Munich Security Conference.
China and the U.S. have different social systems chosen by their respective people. It is irrational to attempt to change the other party or even overthrow it, he said, and mentioned that the proper attitude would be respect for each other.
He continued that China will counteract to the end should the U.S. persistently mount pressure on and attempt to constrain China. China will resolutely retaliate against the bid for unilateral hegemony of the U.S. and firmly defend its national sovereignty, dignity and legitimate right to development, he stressed.
The Chinese foreign minister clarified that China’s actions are oriented towards international equity and justice as well as the fundamental rules of international relations.
