Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency Sunday released a detailed report on the great vitality of the movement for increased production and economy, which promoted the birth of the Chollima era, and its proud history of succession and development.

The Chollima era shining as the annals of miracles was an era of upheaval, in which all the people made great leaps forward and innovations in every theatre of economic construction by waging a dynamic drive for increased production and economy, upholding the Workers' Party of Korea's ideas and leadership with one mind, the report says, adding:

Our people, who had successfully fulfilled the three-year national economic plan for postwar reconstruction, were faced with the difficult and enormous tasks for completing the basic socialist construction and carrying out the socialist industrialization as soon as possible under the Party’s line of building the independent economy.

At the Third Congress of the WPK in April 1956, President Kim Il Sung indicated the tasks and ways for the five-year national economic plan for the completing the basic socialist construction. At the December 1956 Plenary Meeting of the WPK Central Committee, he put forward the militant slogan "Let's produce more, practise economy, and overfulfill the Five-Year Plan ahead of schedule!"

In hearty response to the patriotic appeal of the President, our working class turned out in a drive for increased production to carry out the five-year plan ahead of schedule by dynamically advancing in the spirit of Chollima.

Workers of the then Kangson Steel Plant took the lead in the drive for increased production, the Chollima movement, holding high the torch of great upsurge, bearing deep in mind the great trust and expectation of the President who visited them in the difficult post-war period.

With their warm loyalty and uprightness, they worked a miracle in the metallurgical sector by producing 120 000 tons of billets from the blooming mill with a capacity of 60 000 tons, true to the instructions of the President that the country would be relieved if it had 10 000 more tons of steel.

Amid the ever-growing enthusiasm of the Kangson workers to keep their pledge before the President without fail, members of the Jin Ung Won-led electric furnace workteam at a steel workshop of the plant held a meeting on March 8, 1959 to respond to the Party's call for making uninterrupted innovations and progress with the initiative of the Chollima workteam movement.

The flames of the Chollima movement, a drive for increased production kindled by the Kangson workers, rapidly spread over the whole country.

Every movement, which made a distinguished contribution to glorifying the Chollima era, was a strong manifestation of the unshakable will of our working class and all other people to carry out the Party's plan and intention without fail.

The mass movement, a drive for increased production which brought up ordinary people into heroes and reeducated stragglers into progressive elements and gave full play to their spiritual strength to make them dash ahead at the speed of Chollima, served as the great motive force for rapid progress and advance of the Chollima era and for the fulfillment of the First Five-year Plan.

The reserves for miraculous increased production in the Chollima era, which recorded the world-startling economic growth speed despite the difficult condition that the country was hard pressed for everything, were the economization spirit and trait pervading the whole country, the report says, and goes on:

Cherishing the Party's appeal "Let us all increase the production through economy!" deep in their mind, all the people had waged a dynamic drive for economy involving all the masses, firmly convinced that they are masters of the country and workplaces, and thus laid a solid foundation for increased production.

All sectors and units of the national economy found ways for economization in innovating science and technology and giving fullest play to the masses' patriotism. And they mobilized all their technical force and economic potentials and, at the same time, developed the economization drive into a patriotic movement to make a breakthrough in implementing the Five-Year Plan.

The prefabricated construction method, introduced first in the construction of the capital city as instructed by President Kim Il Sung , was a construction revolution that made it possible to successfully realize the Party's grand construction plan by saving manpower, materials and funds in the construction field while shortening the period of construction project.

The capital city builders, who turned out in a drive to make innovations in construction with the prefabricated construction method, true to the spirit of the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee held in October 1957, introduced this method in an overall way to put the production of building parts and elements on an industrial basis. They raised the construction speed by 7.3 times while saving the labor force much more than before and thus created the Pyongyang Speed, to be specially recorded in the construction history, by building the houses for more than 20 000 families with the materials and funds planned for 7 000 households while assembling one flat in only 14 minutes.

The prefabricated construction based on large building parts and elements gained momentum in regional cities, evidently proving the validity of the Party's policies.

Thanks to the diverse struggle for economy waged as an all-people movement in all sectors and units, huge material wealth and reserves like the building of tens of factories, power stations and coal mines were provided in the period of the Five-Year Plan. As a result, all the economic targets, regarded it as impossible to hit, were attained at a stroke.

In the flames of the great Chollima upswing, the First Five-Year National Economic Plan was carried out in two and a half years as the total industrial output value and in four years as the indices of items in kind. Since 1957 the industrial production had grown at a high rate of 19.1 percent on an average every year.

As a result of the intensified struggle for increased production and economy, the strategic tasks for the First Five-Year Plan set forth by the Third Congress of the WPK were completed ahead of schedule in the shortest period and our people could greet the Fourth Congress of the WPK with the pride of being victors.

The revolutionary spirit and working trait of the heroic generation, who created the miracles of Chollima and the spirit of the times on the debris through an all-people struggle for increased production and economy true to the call of the leader, have been steadily carried forward as the ideological and moral qualities and creative mettle peculiar to the Korean people building a socialist paradise on this land, the report says, and continues:

The Korean people, who completed the socialist industrialization in a matter of 14 years by dashing ahead in the spirit of Chollima, had steadily raised the flames of such great innovation movements as the movements for creating the speed of the 70-day campaign and the speed of the 1980s, decade after decade to victoriously surmount the arduous march and forced march and proudly embark on the road of advance in the new century. They are giving fuller play to the potentiality and the spirit of the DPRK and the steadfastness of the Korean revolution in the new era of the Juche revolution, true to the great Party Central Committee's outstanding idea on building a powerful country and its leadership.

With the firm faith that all victories and glory lie in remaining loyal to the great Comrade Kim Jong Un only with a single mind and the confidence in successful realization of their cause and ideals, all the people in the country proudly have brought a new era of comprehensive rejuvenation, the annals of great changes and miracles in all spheres of the state development, unprecedented in the nation-building history and in the history of humankind, while braving myriads of challenges and difficulties with their indefatigable struggle and efforts.

Thanks to the noble idea of the Party Central Committee that the eternal prosperity of regions means the eternal rosy future of our state and Korean-style socialism, a great revolution has been made to implement the programme for the rural revolution in the new era and the regional development policy, thus opening up a broad avenue for accomplishing the unprecedented great cause of advancing toward the comprehensive development of socialist construction with the eye-opening entities of rural development and regional transformation emerging one after another in different parts of the country.

In the flames of creating the Chollima spirit in the new era kindled by Kim Jong Un , with his firm belief in the inexhaustible pioneering spirit, loyalty and patriotism of the great Korean people trusting and following the Party only, to give the fullest play to their mental power, all the people are more vigorously waging the drive for increased production and economy and further accelerating the speed of general advance to successfully complete the Five-Year Plan set forth by the Eighth Congress of the Party and proudly enter the venue of its Ninth Congress.

In the course of the struggle to accomplish the historic cause of courageously ushering in a new era of comprehensive national rejuvenation while upholding the leadership of the Party Central Committee with a single mind and loyalty, the Korean people will ceaselessly open up the annals of miracles ,beyond the world people's imagination, in building a socialist power while further augmenting the strength of the great tradition of struggle inherited from generation to generation and century after century and the spirit of devoted struggle and patriotic enthusiasm. -0-
