Newly-built regional industrial establishments across the country are stepping up production.
The researchers and workers of the Pyongyang Essential Oil Factory play their part in this effort.
Last year, they sent 10-odd kinds of edible and industrial essential oil to the regional industrial factories so that they could start production on a normal footing right after their inauguration.
They work hard to manufacture a variety of essential oil needed for the production of sweets, cookies, drinks and soaps, as more regional industrial factories are expected to be built in different parts of the country this year, too.
The factory has already established the production line of edible essential oil extracted from fruits.
This process is based on the technique to manufacture essential oil extracted from squeezed fruits.
Unlike the mixed essential oil manufacturing technique, by which heterogeneous substances are released and natural flavour is lacking even though aromatic elements are rich, it helps preserve the taste, aroma and colour peculiar to fruits and enhance the productivity and storage of essential oil.
Now the factory produces edible essential oil extracted from such fruits as apple, pear, peach, strawberry, melon and wild grape.
The foodstuffs made with these kinds of essential oil are popular among customers for their rich natural flavour and aroma, good colours and health promotion effects.
The factory also produces essential oil for laundry soap with pine, peppermint and wormwood aroma by using resin and other raw materials abundant in the country.
"Before they buy even a bar of laundry soap, consumers tend to smell its smell. Therefore, aroma is a major index to goods quality,” told Choe Jong Hyok, head of industrial essential oil research section of the Essential Oil Institute.
According to him, essential oil for laundry soap is required to last long and remain highly resistant to heat and discoloration during the soap production. To this end, the researchers of his section identified the mixing method according to different raw materials and developed relevant technology.
Currently, the factory is striving hard to develop more natural essential oil of good quality as suited to the tastes of the people.
