The fishing condition is changing greatly due to El Nino and other abnormal weather conditions.
Accordingly, the Kangwon Provincial Fishery Management Bureau is channelling great efforts into offshore farming this year, true to the Workers’ Party’s policy on diversifying fishing and briskly conducting fish farming in the sea and offshore farming.
All the units under the management bureau are actively carrying on this undertaking after setting a high target for producing shellfish and seaweeds.

This serves as a valuable experience for everyone and raises the competitive spirit of all units.
This year, we set a higher target for the production of mussel, oyster, kelp and Undaria pinnatifida than last year, and we are very confident.
The management bureau provided nurseries with measuring and analyzing facilities amid the growing enthusiasm for offshore farming and evaluated water quality according to water areas and is intensifying the work for increasing the output per unit area by correctly selecting the species of marine products.
It also pushes ahead with the work to double the area of nurseries under the management bureau, to build large ships with great horsepower and complete a modern fishing tackle factory which can satisfactorily produce all kinds of fishing tackles and materials within this year.
The shellfish and seaweed outputs produced through offshore farming so far prove in reality that the prospects of the fishing industry lie in offshore farming.
