Pae Un Hui, a teacher at Kim Song Ju Primary School, is among the top ten teachers of 2024. She is noted for her unique art of lecturing and amazing ability to transfer a wide range of knowledge.
Her students and colleagues respectfully call her “our teacher” and “walking dictionary.” She always says that “we teachers should become talents to train useful talents for the country.”
In 2000 Pae graduated from Pyongyang Teachers Training College and became a teacher. Since then she has strived to improve her qualifications and ability while inventing new teaching methods and introducing many experimental apparatuses and teaching aids. In the course of this, she was awarded the title of October 8 Model Teacher.
Besides, busy as she was with giving lectures almost every day, Pae compiled lots of reference books such as “Interesting Mathematical Puzzles,” which have substantially helped children in their intellectual development and afterschool work.
She made an in-depth study of the mathematical education at primary schools at home and in foreign countries with developed education. Through an analogical analysis she adopted original teaching methods that enable students to understand what they learned at class in a theoretical manner and stay focused with no boredom, which proved to be successful in enhancing their performance.
She wrote over 10 kinds of mathematics textbooks including those for second- and third-graders of primary schools and students with visual impairments, which helped upgrade the mathematical education at primary schools.
Her teaching materials are appreciated by primary school teachers across the country as the most excellent, innovative and interesting among others of the same kind as they are all featured by unique formation and contents to meet the juvenile psychology.
Pae Un Hui has also worked out teaching plans that help teachers creatively apply a variety of methods and skills according to the contents of relevant subjects, which has earned her such nickname as “teacher well versed in primary school materials” and “mentor of teachers.”
