China Will Take All Measures Necessary to Safeguard National Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity

Recently, the G7 foreign ministers and the high representative of the European Union made a statement on the joint exercises around Taiwan Island conducted by the People's Liberation Army accusing China for its "provocative" actions that are raising tensions. China strongly rejected it as an interference in internal affairs by the external forces.

The spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Canada said that the accusation by a handful of countries and organizations against China is a mischaracterization of the facts and truth and an interference in China's internal affairs, and China deplores, opposes and absolutely does not accept this.

The Taiwan question is purely China's internal affairs that brook no external interference, and “Taiwan independence” separatist activities and external forces that abet and aid them are the ones that undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, the spokesperson continued.

The spokesperson stressed that China will never ever allow anyone or any force to separate Taiwan from China in any form, and China will take all measures necessary to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

China Daily also issued an editorial on the said statement, criticizing the hypocrisy of some countries.

The editorial wrote that the joint statement is hypocritical and that the support for the separatists on the island by the G7 foreign ministers and the high representative of the European Union is fueling the rising tensions.

The editorial ridiculed that the misguided policy of utilizing the island as a geopolitical tool to constrain China is akin to looking for a gas leak in a coal mine by candlelight, laying bare their motive behind anti-China campaign.

The editorial underlined that the G7 members and the EU should adhere to the legal obligation that they recognize the one-China principle, abide by their political commitments to China and put an end to their provocative words and deeds.
