True to the Workers’ Party of Korea’s childcare policy, different parts of the country are making further efforts to expand their own capacity for producing dairy goods, with tangible results.
They have extended ranches, secured goats and cows in great numbers, and managed breeding in a scientific way to increase milk production.
Pyongyang Municipality is pushing ahead with the construction of new sheds for goats and cows at livestock farms in Kangdong County.
South Hamgyong Province ensures that fodder grass is cultivated on an extensive scale, the growth and breeding rates of cows and goats are raised and a large number of goats are sent to farms in the province.
North Hamgyong Province sees that livestock farms in its cities and counties set up a scientific breeding system to boost the number of goats and cows.
In particular, the farms reduce the mortality rate of the animals by keeping a good supply of various kinds of veterinary medicines.
Remarkable progress has been made in increasing milk processing capacity.
North and South Hwanghae provinces and Rason Municipality have pushed forward the projects to manufacture and install a new-type milk powder production facility and remodel the existing equipment in a phased and consistent manner, while North and South Phyongan provinces have made greater achievements by publicizing the experiences of those counties that have set an example in putting the dairy production processes on a scientific basis.
Meanwhile, other provinces have built up their dairy production foundations by completing the lines of producing veterinary medicines and stepping up the installation of vacuum concentrators.
