A splendid inauguration ceremony of 10 000 flats built at the third-stage in the Hwasong area of the capital city of Pyongyang was held on the spot on April 15.

Different from the first and second stages in block formation, the third-stage residential district occupies an area of more than 90 hectares. Skyscrapers, high-rise apartment houses, educational, public health, commercial and catering facilities, technical service and leisure facilities and other neighbourhood-serving amenities are arranged in good harmony to form a new, unique architectural group. With the completion of the third-stage project the Hwasong area has turned into an urban administrative district with political, economic and cultural functions and a centre and paradigm that can lead other regions in the capital to civilization and efflorescence.

This new residential district built in the Hwasong area is brilliant fruition of the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and a crystallization of the strong mettle and creative spirit of the Korean people in their single-minded endeavours to realize the cherished desire of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held in late December 2023 advanced the task of continuing to push ahead with the third-stage project of building 10 000 flats and construct modern bases for cultural activities in 2024, the fourth year for the constriction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang.

Saying that keeping promise made with the people without fail despite any difficulties is the true nature and principle of our Party and government, Kim Jong Un provided meticulous guidance to the preparations for the new-stage project and energetically led the whole course of the project.

He paid particular attention to all elements related to the construction such as steadily taking new approaches in the designing sector in conformity with the Party’s intention and people’s demands, absolutely guaranteeing quality in construction, regular management and operation of service establishments and properly sealing the window frames in high-rise apartment houses.

He also examined over 660 formation plans in order to make the third-stage district look different from the previous ones in character and provide the people with a higher standard of material and cultural benefits.

He attended the inauguration ceremony for the third-stage construction on February 23, 2024 and pressed the button for groundbreaking, encouraging the builders to firmly guarantee with signal revolutionary fruition the construction struggle which was being steadily and dynamically carried out by our Party as a far-sighted patriotic undertaking.

Later he inspected the construction site several times, underlining the need to qualitatively and perfectly finish all the processes with a goal to build the houses at the highest level, impeccable even in the distant future, and clarifying all issues that arise in meeting the requirements of the Party’s policy and preserving modern qualities based on the Korean style in construction.

On April 3 he inspected major neighbourhood-serving amenities built in the third-stage section nearing completion to provide guidance over the preparations for their operation. On that occasion he referred to the need to steadily pioneer new service field with fresh modes and methods, raise the capital city construction onto a new higher stage and radically improve the material and cultural life of the citizens of the capital city and all other people across the country.

He cut the inauguration tape and met and encouraged military and civilian labour innovators who had made a great contribution to the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang. When he met the working people and the elderly who would move into new flats, he said that he was sorry to provide the modern apartment houses only now and that he was firmly determined to take upon himself more tasks for the people as he saw the citizens full of emotion and joy today. And he wished them happy life in good health in the new houses.

Today the Korea people envisage in the transformed Hwasong area the future of their country that would be changed into a more beautiful and dignified one as they are led by General Secretary Kim Jong Un who is on the road of devoted service for the people, making the whole process of creation and construction consistent with the absolute service for the people.
