On May 18, 2014, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited orphans from the baby home and orphanage in South Phyongan Province who were receiving medical treatment at Taesongsan General Hospital.
When he entered a room, 10-odd orphans were singing led by a nurse. On seeing him, they sprang to their feet and rushed to him, calling out “Father!”
He cuddled a two-year-old and stroked the child's head. Then he affectionately patted the cheeks of the other children who stuck to his clothes, saying that their faces glowed with health and they had been taken good care of.
When he dropped in at another room, children there greeted him, ran to him and threw themselves into his arms.
A little child who was pushed to the brink by bigger children spread out its arms and called out “Me, too, Marshal!” When he lifted it up, other children asked him to hug them, too. Wearing a smile, he hugged them one by one and then asked them to sing a song.
They sang and danced to the tune of nurses and teachers clapping hands. When they finished, he praised them for singing well.
The scene was reminiscent of a happy family in which the father and children were linked in an inseparable bond of kindred affection.
Kim Jong Un said to the accompanying officials: All the orphans are lively. I feel tears welling up in my eyes to see them flinging themselves into my arms calling me father. We should take good care of them so that they can live free from the sorrow of being parentless.
