The people in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are significantly commemorating the anniversary of victory in the Pochonbo Battle.
The Pochonbo Battle organized and commanded by the great leader Kim Il Sung on June 4, 1937, is a historic event that gave a hope of national resuscitation to the Korean people groaning under the vicious colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists and ushered in an epochal phase of the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
The immortal exploits for national liberation performed by Kim Il Sung, a legendary hero of the anti-Japanese war and peerless patriot, are intensively reflected in the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo which was built into the first monument of revolutionary tradition in the DPRK on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of victory in the Pochonbo Battle.
This year alone, the monument was visited by more than 18,000 officials, working people, service personnel of the People's Army and youth and students of nearly 400 units including the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Kora, Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.
The visitors laid bouquets and flowers before the bronze statue of Kim Il Sung and paid homage to him.
