June 15 marks the 32 nd anniversary when President Kim Il Sung gave valuable guidance on the information services of non-aligned countries. He said that the information services should firmly maintain an independent stand against imperialism, fully adhere to the principle of justice, and fulfil the mission and role assumed before the era, thus actively contributing to the just cause of the world progressive peoples aspiring after independence.

At a time when the imperialists were scheming to incite aggression and war through massive spread of disinformation and reactionary ideology and culture, President Kim Il Sung deeply realized the pressing need to establish a new international public information order to cope with such actions. He personally initiated the 4 th NAM Conference of Ministers of Public Information to be held in Pyongyang and saw through the preparations.

On the opening day of the conference, he delivered a historic speech entitled “Non-aligned Information Services Must Contribute to the People’s Cause of Independence”. In the speech, he clarified the basic mission of the non-aligned information services for independence, peace, and social progress, and provided lucid answers to the principle issues facing the non-aligned information services.

At the present time when the masses of the people have emerged in the historical arena and are shaping their destiny independently, he said, information services form an important front in the acute confrontation and struggle between the new and the outmoded, between progress and reaction.

He continued that the non-aligned public information services must be the genuine mouthpieces of the progressive countries and peoples who champion independence, take the lead in encouraging the people to carry out the cause of independence, and also become the fair judges of history that defend justice and condemn injustice.

President Kim Il Sung is indeed the veteran of world progressive information services and the distinguished leader of world revolution. He provided in-depth and comprehensive answers to urgent outstanding issues in the field of international information services and laid the foundations for the establishment of a righteous international public information order.

They serve as a powerful ideological and theoretical means for leading the struggle of the world progressive people to victory and are treasured by the whole world.

Under the wise leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , the DPRK will continue to direct maximum efforts toward strengthening unity and cooperation with the non-aligned countries. As a dignified member state of the NAM, it will actively strive for independence against imperialism and for genuine international justice.
