Holiday He Spent with Children’s Union Members

On June ６, １９６１, celebrations of the １５th founding anniversary of Korean Children’s Union (KCU) were held with splendor in the presence of President Kim Il Sung in the capital city of Pyongyang.

The President came to Kim Il Sung Square, the venue of the joint national meeting of the KCU organizations and met representatives of the KCU organizations who were to take the platform.

Saying tenderly that it was the holiday of children’s union members and so they should take the lead, the President headed for the platform with them.

The President waved back to the enthusiastically cheering children’s union members and warmly said that it was invigorating to see the bright and happy looks of children.

Presently a parade of provincial KCU organizations took place and columns with a float depicting the proud history of the children’s union and tens of "Sonyon" tractors and trucks associated with the sincerity of children’s union members marched past the square.

Looking at them, the President all the time wore a smile of satisfaction.

That day he met the representatives of KCU organizations and said that it was the birthday of KCU and so it was an auspicious day for not only children’s union members but also the adults, adding that he was going to spend the day with them however busy he might be.

On that day’s afternoon, the President watched the mass gymnastics and in the evening a performance of art groups.

Like this, the President spent the whole day together with our children’s union members.

Saying It Is Honorable Task Party Assigned to Them

On June ６, １９６６, Chairman Kim Jong Il met officials of the Central Committee of the then League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea and had a meaningful talk about improving the guidance over the children’s union work.

The Chairman referred to the fact that the celebrations of the ２０th founding anniversary of KCU were held successfully on a high political and ideological level.

He said that the President had instructed the officials of the league of socialist working youth to conduct the children’s union work better in the future, highly appreciating great success they achieved in the work of children’s union.

It reflected his expectation that the youth league officials would fulfil their responsibility and duty in bringing up schoolchildren to be reserves of the communist construction who are knowledgeable, virtuous and healthy by improving the guidance over the work of children’s union in the future true to the intention of the President.

Looking around the youth league officials, the Chairman said that the guidance over the children’s union work was the honorable task the Party assigned to the league of socialist working youth, stressing that they should never neglect it as it is the work with young pupils.

His instruction that day still impresses on us the truth that only when the Party steadily improves the work of children’s union and puts great effort to the schoolchildren’s education, can the youth league be further strengthened and the Party, the vanguard of the revolution, fully display its invincibility.

Souvenir Photo He Had Taken with Students of Revolutionary School

On June ６, ２０１４, the respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on the occasion of ６８th founding anniversary of the Korean Children’s Union.

He laid a bouquet before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and paid tribute to them. And he said he would have a souvenir photo taken with the teaching staff and students of the school.

On February １６ a year before, he had visited the school to participate in the unveiling ceremony of statues of the President and the Chairman. That day he was too busy to have a souvenir photo taken with the students. As it had worried him so much, the respected Comrade General Secretary had made a promise to make time to visit the school again before leaving the school.

Looking up to the respected Comrade General Secretary who visited the school with parental affection on the meaningful June day as he promised during his last visit, the students were moved to tears and shouted hurrahs loudly.

The respected Comrade General Secretary said that all the students shouted hurrahs loudly because they seemed to be glad to see him and that they would miss their own father more.

At the venue of the photo session a touching scene was unfold.

The students were moved to tears and shouted "the respected fatherly Marshal" and "father" loudly.

Indeed, the meaningful souvenir photo tells that the students of the revolutionary schools grow up stoutly as reserves of revolution under the warm love of the respected Comrade General Secretary.
