98 years have passed since the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) was formed at the dawn of the Korean revolution.
With a high aim to blaze a trail for the Korean revolution, President Kim Il Sung formed the DIU on October 17, 1926. Ever since, our revolution advanced along the road of victory without the slightest failure or twists and turns even in the face of the unheard-of trials under the uplifted banner of self-sustenance and national independence..
Its formation triggered the start of the revolutionary cause of Juche and became the historic root of the glorious Workers’ Party of Korea, thus bringing a dramatic turn in shaping the destiny of our people.
The program of the DIU became the basis of our Party’s program; its principle of independence served as our Party’s principle in its building and activities; and the young revolutionaries brought up by the DIU formed the backbone of our Party at the time of its foundation.
Under the uplifted banner of the DIU and Juche, held up by President Kim Il Sung , our people built on this land a socialist state that is independent in politics, self-sufficient in economy and self-reliant in defense. This was a change of great significance in the world history.
The DIU was indeed the ever-victorious banner that gave birth to the great Party, great state and great people on this land which was once in distress. It was also the vital power that highly enhanced our people’s confidence in their own strength and cause.
President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il laid eternal foundation for the prosperity of the country under the uplifted banner of the DIU throughout their lifetime. Their immortal exploits are shining more brightly as we hold in high esteem respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
Braving all challenges and difficulties of history, our people are now more vigorously opening up the new era of overall national prosperity true to the grand plan for the construction of socialist power unfolded by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , while demonstrating the might of the country as the most dignified and independent power.
Fully embodying the spirit of independence against imperialism and firm belief in victory of socialism, which served as the driving force of our revolution along with the DIU, our people will surely build the prosperous socialist power on this land and achieve final victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche under the great leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un forever.
