A number of projects newly built or renovated last year in different sectors and units of the national economy are paying off this year.

Entering this year, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex has boosted molten iron production at the energy-saving oxygen blast furnace built by its own efforts.

The complex conducts the tapping and raw materials charge simultaneously. It endeavours to carry out technical renovation and maintenance of various lines in a short span of time in cooperation with relevant units so as to increase the production capacity of the furnace.

The Musan Mining Complex is operating the newly-installed and remodelled conical crushers and long-distance conveyor belt at full capacity.

The workers at the complex have established a new bearing steel production line based on an advanced technical approach and built a modern electric furnace, thus building a sure guarantee for producing and supplying different kinds of castings. In January it successfully carried out the blasting of 650 000 cubic metres, the first of its kind in scores of years.

The Komdok Mining Complex has registered good results in running the newly-built conveyor belt.

The complex has increased the production of minerals by giving precedence to pit construction and introducing rational mining methods.

Meanwhile, the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex is operating at a high rate its boiler which restored its original performance through a renovation, with the result that it turns out a great deal of electricity every day with markedly lowered coal consumption.

High production records are being registered in the coal-mining industry which built new conveyor belts and high-capacity silos last year.

The February 8 Jiktong Youth Coal Mine, Chonsong Youth Coal Mine, Tukjang Youth Coal Mine and other coal mines are raising the operation rate of conveyor belts and making effective use of silos.

The remodelled Sariwon Tractor Parts Factory is churning out high-quality spare parts conducive to the mechanization of the rural economy, while the Ryonggang Stone Dressing Plant renovated as a large-scale stone dressing base is producing high-quality stone products for major construction projects.

In addition, the Jangsan Mine is focusing on the full-capacity operation of its main production system remodelled to have flowline equipment, thereby producing quality refractories while saving a lot of manpower, fuel and power. And the Ryangchaek Bearing Factory is improving the quality of its products by putting its production lines on an automated, streamlined footing.
