In February the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended the groundbreaking ceremony of a hospital and a leisure complex in Kangdong County for the Regional Development 20×10 Policy and made a significant speech.
In the speech he said: Building modern public health facilities and multifunctional bases for cultural activities in cities and counties is a crucial and most pressing task that is of great strategic significance in accelerating the simultaneous and balanced development of all fields and all regions and bringing forward the complete victory of socialism. The eternal prosperity of our regions precisely means the permanent future of our state and our style of socialism.
His speech reflects the noble intention that the whole of the country will be full of vitality when precedence is given to the endeavours to bring about regional development and rejuvenation and that this will in turn create a new springboard and turning point for national prosperity.
Last year, with a firm will to eliminate the century-old backwardness of regions and realize the desire of the regional people as soon as possible, he made sure that the construction of three additional essential projects were pushed ahead in parallel with the construction of modern regional-industry factories and specified the tasks and ways for carrying them out at a major Party meeting.
Typically, a hospital and a leisure complex in Kangdong County, Pyongyang, and regional industry factories and a hospital in Ryonggang County, Nampho, are under construction. In addition, many other cities and counties across the country are pushing ahead with the construction of modern public health facilities, leisure complexes and grain storage stations along with regional-industry factories.
