The Samdung Chemical Factory is bringing great profits to the country by applying a gypsum-free cement production technology.
This technology, which helps produce quality cement without using gypsum, was developed by the factory’s technical team and it has been showing great technical and economic effects since over ten years ago.
Gypsum is mostly used as retarder and mineralizer in cement production. An indispensable raw material like limestone, the amount of its consumption reaches 5 to 10% of the total cement output.
It has been known that there is no retarder that can replace gypsum in terms of price, deposit and effects on the quality of cement.
In a bid to solve the shortage of gypsum, some units have worked to explore new deposits and develop an effective way of saving gypsum.
A technology that helps save 20 to 50% of gypsum has already been developed and proved effective.
The technical team of the Samdung Chemical Factory made painstaking efforts to find a way of getting free from gypsum instead of saving it.
Finally, they succeeded in introducing a gypsum-free technology, original and innovative, by recycling the wastes that had been abandoned in a region for a long time.
This enabled them to produce quality cement in a stable manner under any unfavourable conditions, bringing great profits to the state. Last year they renewed their peak production record.
Experts estimate that if this technology is generalized across the country, it will tackle the gypsum problem and boost the cement output while reducing the consumption of coal.
In December last year, the officials and technicians of the factory were awarded a national certificate of introduction of sci-tech hits in recognition of their achievements.
