The Korean Bowling Association, founded in July 1994, works to promote the development of bowling in the DPRK and to make it mass-based in favour of public health and cultural and recreational life.
The association focuses on the professional and mass-based development of bowling.
With good results at several international competitions in the past, it pays close attention to enhancing the skills of the professionals by combining theoretical education with practical training in keeping with the global trend of the development of bowling techniques.
Through the annual competitions for professionals and amateurs, the association raises the public awareness of bowling and conducts a variety of activities to transfer and disseminate bowling techniques.
It has bowling centres such as the Pyongyang Gold Lane in different parts of the country, which are run at a high level all the year round.
Thanks to a state measure bowling is being promoted widely, the public interest in the sport is growing and the number of amateurs is on the increase, said Sin Ju Hyon, chairman of the association.
The Korean Bowling Association joined the International Bowling Federation and the Asian Bowling Federation in August 2005, and it shares bowling techniques and cooperates with foreign partners the world over.
