In his historic speech " Let Us Make Redoubled Efforts for the Prosperity of Our Great State " delivered on September 9 on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of the DPRK, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stressed the need to thoroughly guarantee the quality of the structures directly related to the life of the people, including the 10 000 flats under construction as the third-stage project in the Hwasong area and rural houses.

It is the housing construction to which the DPRK always gives top priority in construction.

The Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea set it as the core of the construction policy to make the country the one that solved the housing problem for the first time in the world.

According to the decision of the Party congress, 50 000 flats are being built in Pyongyang, the Komdok area is being renovated as a mountain gorge city, and dwelling houses are being built in provinces, cities and counties on an annual basis.

The capital city of Pyongyang is taking on new appearance with each passing day.

Following Songhwa Street, Hwasong Street, etc., Rimhung and Jonwi streets have been completed this year according to the lofty intention of Kim Jong Un to turn Pyongyang into the most beautiful city in the world.

The spatial composition of all the architectural structures is varied and practical in keeping with their missions, characters, functional requirements and surrounding environment. Also, the structures are refined and delicate in terms of architectural aesthetics.

The flats in the Hwasong area are characterized by the fact that though they have been built in the same area, they are different in appearance and unique in style according to project stages.

As shown by the new streets in the Hwasong area, the Korean people have raised their level of architectural aesthetics and standard of civilization onto a new high.

Meanwhile, rural construction is vigorously pushed forward to provide the people in rural areas with a material and cultural life as excellent as that enjoyed by the people in Samjiyon which has been renovated as a model of mountain city. Houses for thousands of households have been constructed every year in the Komdok area of South Hamgyong Province, turning the area into a mountain gorge town.

And many rural villages in different parts of the country have sprung up every day.

It is the far-reaching plan of the WPK to continue to usher in the heyday of the capital city construction and open up an era when the local areas change, thereby radically changing the living environment of the people across the country within 20 to 30 years.

Saying that we have no right to hesitate or turn away in the face of the work for realizing the ideals of the people, nor do we have time to wait for the conditions to improve, he always stresses the need to give top priority to housing construction in capital construction.

This year, too, has witnessed dwelling houses for the people springing up in Pyongyang and other parts of the country.
