Jon Yong Do, a resident in Neighbourhood Unit No. 3, Kwangbok-dong No. 1, Mangyongdae District in Pyongyang, boasts two patent certificates plus certificates of participation in sci-tech festivals and shows.
The 70-year-old has won the two patent certificates in recent years.
An official in the sci-tech sector called at his home in January 2022.
After exchanging New Year greetings with the old man, he asked taking a look at a patent certificate on a wall: Why don’t you try to make another invention?
The certificate is for Jon’s recent invention related with power production system.
What the official said reminded the old man of the persons who rendered sincere assistance to him to get a patent.
Jon had a liking for weak current engineering from his childhood. After retirement, he began to manufacture a power-generating facility, an idea he had mulled over.
Also he felt unsure about his single-handed bid as he had no professional research career. But it proved needless.
One day the official in the sci-tech sector visited him. He said it is a state policy to encourage all the people including retired persons to fully display their techniques and abilities and that the conditions and institutional mechanism to this end are put in place. He added that he would help him as much as possible.
Since then the official often visited and offered him unselfish assistance.
Jon said as he frequently visited the Sci-Tech Complex he felt deeply grateful to the socialist system which provides the best conditions for everyone to learn anywhere.
Finally, he succeeded in obtaining a patent.
He buckled down to another project.
With strenuous efforts he gained high appreciation in different domestic sci-tech festivals and shows last year, and developed a new-type, efficient mobile generator, which earned him another patent.
The facility could generate power at any place where vehicle engines are available, and it was an instant hit.
The two patents obtained by a retired man showcase the blessed life of the Korean people.
