Last year, the education sector made remarkable successes such as improved structure, contents and methods of education and strengthened material and technical foundations.
A new teaching management system was put into effect in a comprehensive way at Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Architecture and University of Sciences, and relevant departments were newly set up or reorganized to better train technical personnel in such fields as machine design, harbour design and farm machinery.
Sunhwagang Senior Middle School in Pyongyang’s Mangyongdae District, Songthae Senior Middle School in North Phyongan Province’s Thaechon County and many other schools were turned into senior middle schools of technology, giving an impetus to the effort to tailor secondary education to meet the regional needs.
Teaching contents were put on a concrete, diverse and practical footing at universities and schools at all levels, and thousands of pieces of model class videos, online class-supporting videos and multimedia presentations were generalized nationwide to promote exploratory, heuristic and discussion-oriented teaching methods.
An intelligent teaching control system, an advanced educational management method which comprehensively evaluates the students’ abilities and provides personalized learning resources to them, was developed, opening the door to raising the cognition rate of students.
Last year alone, thousands of teachers and excellent educators from universities at different levels and teachers’ in-service training institutions went to local universities and rural schools to help their teachers improve their qualifications.
As part of a drive to improve the educational conditions and environment, many schools, branch schools and kindergartens were built or renovated throughout the country.
