The Korean people enjoy great social benefits provided by the Workers’ Party of Korea and the state.
One of those benefits is from the recuperation and recreation system.
Every year over 100 000 people from all walks of life enjoy themselves at hundreds of sanatoriums and holiday camps built in celebrated mountains, scenic spots, hot spring and mineral water sites and on the east and west coasts of the country.
Over the past decade since the completion of the Yonphung Scientists Holiday Camp, a great number of sanatoriums and holiday camps such as Tongnim County Farmers’ Holiday Camp and Chonma Holiday Camp have been newly built or remodelled around the country, contributing to the promotion of the working people’s health and recreation.
Last year Rason Municipality built a fine holiday camp at the foot of picturesque Mt Chonghak for the working people in the municipality.
A holiday camp for coal miners has been built in the scenic Hangna-dong area in Tokchon City, South Phyongan Province, and a sanatorium for workers constructed in the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex.
Many factories and enterprises, including the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex and the Chollima Steel Complex, have newly built similar facilities, which they run on a normal basis.
During the holiday season, the Myohyangsan, Soktamgugok, Sogwangsa and other camps are crowded with people having a good time with mountaineering and spa bath.
Sounds of laugh are reverberating at the farmers’ holiday camps in Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province, Sinphyong County, North Hwanghae Province, and elsewhere.
