Last year, sportspersons of the DPRK won more than20 cups and over 360 medals, including more than 210 golds, at internationalgames and updated more than 40 DPRK records at the domestic games.
Women footballers won the 2024AFC U-20 and U-17 women’s Asian Cups and the 2024 FIFA U-20 and U-17 women’s World Cups in succession and performed a worldsports miracle of lifting four cups in one year.
Male footballers acquired qualifications for the2025 AFC U-20 and U-17 Asian Cups.
DPRK weightlifters won victories at theinternational games in succession, shaking the world weightlifting circle.
They won 116 medals, including 79 golds, at the 2024IWF World Championships, the World Cup and the 2024 Asian Weightlifting Championships.
Today, the DPRK women weightlifters hold 14 worldrecords of the IWF, topping the country and regional rankings of world recordholders. And its male weightlifters hold three world records.
Kim Kum Yong took the first place by defeating theworld’s aces at the 2024 Asian Table Tennis Championships and she and Ri JongSik came second in the mixed doubles of the table tennis event at the 33rdOlympic Games, to the surprise of many experts and amateurs.
DPRK wrestlers also demonstrated their great abilitiesat different international games.
Kim Ji Hyang and Ro Yu Cholbagged gold medals at the 2024 Asian Wrestling Championship and seven DPRKwrestlers, including Han Chong Song and Son Il Sim, took first place in the 37th ICSM World Military Wrestling Championship.
DPRK players emerged victorious at the FIG ArtisticGymnastics Apparatus World Cup 2024 held in Egypt, the EJU Gyor European Open2024 and other international games and registered good results in the women’s wrestling and women's 10mplatform synchronized diving at the 33rd Olympic Games.
Men and women Taekwon-Do players, who trained hardout of the desire to further develop the orthodox martial art of the Koreannation, exalted the honour of the country at every international contest.
At the 10th Asian Taekwon-Do Championship theydisplayed dogged fighting spirit, perseverance and high techniques to obtain 15cups and more than 100 medals including 76 golds.
They won a cup, ten gold and nine other medals inthe adult category of the World Cup Taekwon-Do Games-2024 of the 9thInternational Martial Arts Games held in Uzbekistan to shake the worldTaekwon-Do circle once again.
