The 12th Sports Contest of the Public Health Sector was closed.
In the contest, which took place at the Taekwon-Do Palace and theBasketball Gymnasium on Chongchun Street in Pyongyang from May 2, such eventsas basketball, volleyball, table tennis, Taekwon-Do and tug of war were playeddivided into two groups.
Amid the enthusiastic cheers of rooters, the players fully demonstratedthe skills they had horned through mass sports activities.
There was a closing ceremony at the Taekwon-Do Palace on May 9.
It was attended by Choe Tong Myong, secretary of the Central Committee ofthe Workers’ Party of Korea, officials concerned and public health workersincluding players.
At the ceremony, rotating pennants and trophies were awarded to the winningunits, including the Academy of Medical Sciences and the General DentalHospital under the Ministry of Public Health, which took first place in totalgroup standings on the strength of unity of the collective and by dint of greatperseverance and high sports technique.
Then a closing speech was made.
The speaker called on all officials and players to conduct diverse sportsactivities more briskly, true to the Party's policy of making sports mass-basedand part of daily life, and make greater successes and innovations in thepublic health service in this significant year, the first year of the publichealth revolution.
